Independence |
1966 Sc1 SG106 |
To paraphrase Scott [1], the area was annexed to the Cape Colony in 1871 and transferred to the British Crown in 1883. Stamps of the Cape of Good Hope were used from 1871 to 1910 and of the Union of South Africa from 1910 until 1933. Basutoland became independent as Lesotho in October 1966.
