On July 1, 1867, the colony of Canada combined with the colonies of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia to form the Dominion of Canada. The other stamp issuing colonies joined the Dominion as follows:
The Canadian provinces Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan never issued stamps of their own.
